I saw a quote in a magazine the other day that got me thinking.
"If I woke up tomorrow and couldn't ride my motorcycle anymore, I guess I could get used to it. But my soul wouldn't" -Elayna Boucher
Many years ago I was a biker chick! Many many years ago! Since then, others things have fed my soul a lot more than riding. It doesn't really matter what it is for you, but I think we all have something. That thing that would make you feel a little less than alive if it were gone.
In 2006 I fell and broke my back. That began a 7 year period of time for me that brought this very close to home. My story is quite long, compelling and eventually amazing, but the point I want to make today is simply about the "soul sadness" during that time.
I was very active. Loved to do things outside. Loved hanging with friends and family. Loved hiking and walking. Did some running, didn't really love that, but did it. Loved shopping. Loved helping people decorate and re-decorate their homes. Loved taking gals shopping for makeovers. All of this came to a dramatic halt because of my back injury. I spent 80% of my time in bed for 7 years.
Even though I was alive, and I got used to my life like this, my soul never did. I cried often and longed for those days with friends and family. Days that were full and long. Days that ended with that "good and tired" feeling instead of the "sick and tired" feeling.
That has all changed and I feel like I have been given back my life and then some. But, where are you? What would leave your soul starving if you woke up tomorrow without it? Or are you there today? Have you had to get used to life in a new way? A way that is lacking what feeds your very soul. If so, I am sorry and I pray that something will either replace that thing for you or better yet, that very thing can and will be restored for you!
There is hope! All around us, all around you, are people willing to inspire, encourage and walk along side. My story is one of this very hope and I am honored to share my process. The reason I blog, the reason I am on Facebook, the reason I teach, the reason I do all I do is for YOU!
Leave a comment below. Simply letting me how I might help you or how I can pray for you. My transformed life is not for me to horde or hide, but to share and encourage.
Have a happy health-filled day!
